HISTORY OF ENGLISH REGENCY PERIOD MIRRORS
Our range of English style mirrors are mostly from the late Georgian Regency Period, circa 1810 – 1820. This period of British history was particularly given to the flourishing of arts and crafts, cultural achievement and refinement. Regency design was very much a continuation of the Georgian style, featuring neo-classical details.
English mirror designs are defined by their flat tops, with strong, architectural pediments. These angular designs often feature strong supportive columns and simple straight lines. The English Regency style was often influenced by our French neighbours over the water, adding their penchant for highly decorative and ornate detailing.
